Job Description
Required Combination of Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent technical field AND 5 years of relevant engineering development work OR
- Master's degree and 3 years of relevant experience
Required Skills for the Systems Engineer:
- Development and tracking of requirements
- Strong understanding of integrating sensors, computer, and software
- Issue resolution through triage and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with software development processes
- Experience reading and understanding prints for components and wiring harnesses
- Experience writing and tracking requirements
- Strong understanding of integrating sensors and computer as well as tradeoffs
- Great teamwork, communication, analysis, and troubleshooting skills are required
- The individual should be a self-starter, highly motivated, able to learn at an accelerated pace, and willing to put in the time to get the job done
- Experience presenting design concepts, reviews, and results
Desired Technical Skills:
- Experience in the areas of robotics, remote control, or autonomy
- Experience with datalinks (CAN, Ethernet, etc.) and associated tools (CANape, Wireshark, etc.)
- Experience with Azure DevOps
- Experience with software development tools such as git, debuggers, and compilers
- Experience with ROS
- Experience with perception and positioning sensor configuration and calibration
- Experience with FMEA processes and a basic knowledge of electronic system failure modes
- Experience developing systems for mobile, earthmoving, agricultural, industrial, or off-highway applications
Systems Engineer Overview:
- This position is for a Systems Engineer for the development and integration of advanced technology with heavy-duty equipment / machines. This includes the integration of sensors, components, and software for automation & autonomy products.
Responsibilities:
- Translate customer / commercial requirements into system requirements
- Decompose high-level automation & autonomy features into system-level functional requirements, maintain clear traceability and documentation
- Define the system architecture, interfaces, and integration strategy across the machine subsystems
- Collaborate on the design approach and trade-offs
- Develop features integrating across hardware, software, sensors, and control systems
- Create and track FMEAs
- Cross-functional coordination with machine systems, software, digital teams, validation, and product support
- Issue resolution through triage and troubleshooting
