Required Education
• High School or Equivalent

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field

Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience
• Demonstrated laboratory experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to understand and follow established experimental protocols while maintaining accurate laboratory data
• Comfortable working with toxic chemicals while adhering to laboratory safety practices and protocols
• Ability to stand for the majority of the workday while performing laboratory activities

Laboratory Technician Overview
• Work under the supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist while performing laboratory testing and experimentation with a high level of initiative and independence
• Support the testing and evaluation of coatings through established laboratory procedures
• Accurately collect, record, summarize, and communicate experimental results using laboratory notebooks and computer-based documentation
• Prepare cleaners, pretreatments, paints, and coatings from chemical ingredients according to established procedures
• Utilize Microsoft Office applications to organize project data, charts, and tables for effective communication of results
• Perform performance testing on coated substrates while following laboratory protocols and maintaining a safe working environment
• This position requires hands-on laboratory work, attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work on your feet for most of the day

Job Duties
• Perform testing of coatings
• Evaluate, collect, and record laboratory data
• Organize and perform experiments using established procedures
• Summarize and document experimental results in a laboratory notebook
• Enter project data and information into a computer, including charts and tables
• Prepare cleaners, pretreatments, paints, and coatings from chemical ingredients
• Test the performance characteristics of coated substrates using established procedures
