Job Description
The LGES – HONDA Joint Venture, located in Jeffersonville, Ohio, is bringing the power! A transformation is happening within the auto industry, and we are leading the way. We develop and manufacture large lithium-ion polymer batteries and packs of the highest quality for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage applications.

Summary:
Focus on improving Health & Safety (HS) at the Jeffersonville site by using his/her experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace and engage employees in the development of a strong HS culture. Evaluates workplace compliance with regards to local, state, and federal regulations. Functions as an expert resource to teams for consistent implementation of company’s SH standards and programs. Performs jobsite auditing and conducts incident investigation. Conducts inspections and ensures compliance with applicable HS regulations and standards.



Responsibilities:

Oversee one or more plant-wide safety &health programs.
Manage the ISO 45001 certification process and lead the Health & Safety Compliance Team to drive continuous improvement in all Health & Safety programs.
Ensure hazard identification and mitigation for plant operations and administrative offices.
Conduct daily line walks to ensure HS practices are being observed and to note any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any HS&E related policies/regulations.
Ensure timely communication of health & safety issues/concerns to department leadership.
Lead cross-functional teams to drive improvements across the organization.
Participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions.
Conduct new equipment reviews, mechanical risk assessments and ergonomic risk assessments.
Participate in emergency response drills and critiques.
Conduct new hire orientation, contractor safety and other HS related training topics.
Develop/update site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
Communicate with company’s HS&E colleagues around the globe.
Maintain cleanliness at worksite in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
Sort, set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
Perform other duties as assigned.


Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or related field or equivalent, relevant experience
4-6+ years of safety experience
Professional certification (ASP/CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred
Experience managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001certification.


Knowledge/Skills:

Detailed understanding of major health and safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI)
Detailed understanding of injury/illness prevention strategies
Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
Open to mentorship guidance for personal skill growth
Advanced data analysis and problem-solving skills
Complex understanding of business plan, budgeting and cost reporting.
Expertise with root cause analysis and implementation of countermeasures
Verbal and written communication skills
Experience using Microsoft Office products
Strong planning and prioritization skills
Interpersonal relationship skills
