Job Description
***Only qualified Trainer(Watershed Representative) candidates located in the Chattanooga, TN area will be considered due to the position requiring an on-site presence***

Preferred Education:
Associate’s degree in Engineering or a related field (e.g., Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Water Resources, Civil Engineering Technology, or similar discipline)

Required Skills & Experience:
• Ability to assist in watershed planning and water quality improvement initiatives
• Ability to review and process land use and regulatory applications following established procedures
• Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, agencies, and community groups
• Ability to support public meetings and coalition-building efforts
• Basic understanding of watershed management, shoreline management, and resource stewardship concepts
• Ability to provide technical support related to water quality and watershed initiatives

Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Experience with watershed-based strategy development
• Experience working with watershed coalitions or environmental partnerships
• Familiarity with Section 26A approval processes
• Experience evaluating shoreline management or land use requests
• Experience supporting environmental improvement or recreational development projects

This is a training position with developmental assignments designed to familiarize the incumbent with a broad range of Watershed Operations Team functions. As experience increases, responsibilities expand to include greater involvement in resource stewardship processes, watershed protection, shoreline management, and stakeholder coordination.

Job Duties:
• Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating long-range watershed-based strategies to protect and improve water quality
• Support establishment of partnerships with diverse individuals, groups, and agencies to address water quality and land use issues
• Assist with public meetings and coalition building efforts
• Support review of land use requests
• Assist with processing Section 26A approval applications according to established procedures and guidelines
• Assist in implementing water quality improvement initiatives
• Provide technical support to watershed coalitions
• Evaluate shoreline management requests for alignment with watershed improvement and cultural protection goals
• Support implementation of shoreline improvement, resource management, and recreational projects in accordance with performance plans
