Required Skills
• Ability to read and interpret automotive vehicle electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
• Proficiency in wire harness fabrication techniques, including soldering and crimping.
• Vehicle-level electrical system troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes and digital voltage ohmmeters (DVOM).
• Experience collecting data using a CANalyzer and/or similar diagnostic devices.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of proper operation and preventative maintenance of wire harness fabrication equipment.
• Career experience in the heavy truck or automotive industry.
• Ability to work from written/verbal descriptions and diagrams with minimal supervision.
Job Description
• Fabricate and assemble prototype automotive-type wire harnesses and cable assemblies according to engineering drawings, schematics, and requestor specifications.
• Measure, cut, strip, crimp, solder, and terminate wires using hand tools and specialized equipment.
• Route and bundle wires; install connectors, labels, heat shrink tubing, and protective sleeving to ensure proper fit and function.
• Perform vehicle installation of wire harnesses and overlays.
• Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and quality inspections to verify compliance with industry standards and production requirements.
• Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to troubleshoot wiring issues and identify solutions.
• Learn proper and efficient operation of fabrication equipment, as well as troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on that equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety procedures and meeting production schedules.
• Perform general labor around the facility and other tasks as assigned.
