Job Description
Required Skills:

• Proficient at database, analytical, and reporting tools
• Degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, MIS, data science, or related
• Demonstrated knowledge of accounting, budgeting, billing, and purchasing procedures and systems preferred
• Detailed knowledge of property and sales/use tax policy and procedures preferred
• Four years of analyst experience
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and analytical skills
Desired Skills:
• High-volume processing experience
• Utility, telecom, or railroad industry background (nice-to-have)
• Experience in large corporate/matrixed environments
• Strong Excel skills
• Preferred software: Avalara, SAP, PowerPlan (Alteryx exposure possible but not required)
Job Duties:
• Complete accurate and timely filing of property and sales/use tax filings per statutory requirements.
• Prepare tax payments and reconcile tax bills and GL accounts.
• Gather and process data from external sources for reporting needs of the property tax system.
• Implement tax statutes, regulations, and rules to ensure conformity.
• Perform transaction research to confirm taxability decisions.
• Complete accounting and forecasting related to property and sales/use taxes in compliance with GAAP, regulatory, and SOX requirements.
• Assist in audit administration; leverage data analysis to negotiate resolutions.
• Support planning and research projects and other duties as assigned.
• File and pay sales, use, and property tax returns/bills.
• Process ~3,000 property tax bills per jurisdiction (Minnesota & Colorado).
• Prepare property tax renditions and supporting work papers.
• Assist with sales and use tax audits (invoice pulls, taxability research).
• Reconcile data and provide explanations (final approval by team lead).
Typical Day:
• Completing property and sales/use tax filings and related payments
• Processing and reconciling high-volume property tax bills
• Preparing supporting documentation and work papers
• Pulling invoices and researching taxability questions for audits
• Reviewing data for accuracy and reconciling discrepancies
• Working hybrid on-site ~2 days a week (or remotely if exceptional)
Job Summary:
