Job Description
**Candidates must be located in the Austin, TX area **

Minimum Requirements:
• 8+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering roles.
• 8+ years of strong experience with Linux/Unix systems and system internals.
• 8+ years of proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages such as Python, Go, Java, or Bash.
• 8+ years of experience designing and operating highly available, distributed systems.
• 8+ years of strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and cloud native services.
• 8+ years of experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• 8+ years of strong understanding of monitoring, alerting, and logging concepts.
• 8+ years of hands on experience defining and managing SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• 8+ years of familiarity with incident management processes, root cause analysis (RCA), and postmortem development.
• 8+ years of experience integrating security and compliance into operational and reliability workflows.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 4+ years of experience using observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Application Insights, Datadog, or Splunk.
• 4+ years of experience supporting 24x7 production environments with on call rotation responsibilities.
• 4+ years of experience with chaos engineering, resilience testing, or fault injection practices.
• 4+ years of experience implementing feature flags, canary deployments, and progressive delivery strategies.
• 4+ years of experience producing high quality documentation, including runbooks, dashboards, and operational standards.

Responsibilities:
• Independently plan, design, and execute solutions for complex system reliability and scalability challenges (8+ years).
• Ensure high availability and performance of distributed, production grade systems through automation and engineering best practices (8+ years).
• Understand business objectives and technical problems; identify alternative solutions and perform technical and cost benefit analyses (8+ years).
• Analyze user requirements, workflows, and operational procedures to automate processes or enhance existing systems (8+ years).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather detailed input/output requirements, data formats, reporting needs, and system dependencies (8+ years).
• Produce detailed documentation describing user needs, system functionality, and program development steps (8+ years).
• Evaluate system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling constraints to determine feasibility of system changes within existing environments (8+ years).
• Define, measure, and manage SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to guide reliability and operational decisions (8+ years).
• Lead or participate in incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and post incident reviews to drive continuous improvement (8+ years).
• Partner with development teams to implement reliable deployment strategies, resilience patterns, and observability standards (8+ years).
