Job Description
Education:
• Computer science degree, relevant IT certifications, or business degree

Qualifications:
• Experience in technical support of laboratory IT environments
• Experience supporting laboratory IT systems and instrument connectivity
• Experience in GLP regulated laboratory IT environments preferred, or ability to quickly learn unique requirements and procedures involved in validated systems
• Professional IT certifications desired

Skills:
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Linux, Windows 10, Windows 7, and legacy Windows XP operating systems
• Extensive understanding of Microsoft Active Directory in production environments
• Comprehensive knowledge of network data topologies, including firewall configurations, VPNs, cloud infrastructure, and routing protocols
• Proficiency with IT automation processes and both IT and OT networking environments
• Database understanding of SQL and Oracle platforms
• Familiarity with research and development software applications and LIMS systems
• Excellent communication skills for daily interaction with scientists, IT personnel, and support staff
• Strong customer relationship management abilities
• Demonstrated track record of delivering timely and effective IT technical support
• Team collaboration skills for working with both local and enterprise IT teams
• Creative problem-solving abilities with a proactive and initiative-driven approach
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, including computer boxes and monitors, and walk distances as needed

Description:
This position offers an exceptional opportunity to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and information technology within a dynamic laboratory environment. The successful candidate will serve as a critical technical resource, providing comprehensive IT systems support to research and development teams while maintaining the complex infrastructure that enables scientific innovation. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise and interpersonal skills to effectively support laboratory automation, data management workflows, and enterprise IT integration. The specialist will work collaboratively with scientists, IT professionals, and external vendors to ensure seamless operation of laboratory systems and instruments while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
• Provide end-user support, troubleshooting, issue tracking, software documentation, and monitoring for research and development hardware and software automation teams
• Deploy and maintain desktop functional PC images, perform system rebuilds, and support virtual ESXi and NAS storage environments
• Support Microsoft Active Directory, including creation and management of Users, Computers, Group Policy Objects, and Organizational Units
• Collaborate with scientists to specify data management workflows and procure specialized laboratory hardware, devices, and software for new scientific instrumentation and automation projects
• Configure and troubleshoot network connections for laboratory computers and instruments while coordinating with enterprise networking teams on firewalls, VPNs, cloud services, and WAN/LAN routing protocols
• Implement backup procedures and execute restore activities for short-term and long-term instrument data retention requirements
• Support validation of GLP-related activities and maintain GLP-related documentation in partnership with research teams
• Monitor all laboratory data operations continuously to ensure system reliability and performance
• Partner with researchers, the IT community, and external vendors to clarify requirements and recommend effective solutions
