Job Description
Required Education:
• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education:
• 1+ years of college preferred

Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
• Minimum 2 years experience and working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
• Minimum 3 years experience in a medical setting, with at least 1 year in managed healthcare
• Minimum 3 years data entry experience
• Experience with Micro Suites required
• EPIC or other EMR experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to coach and support team members
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Overview:
• Onsite only position in Atlanta, GA
• Business casual dress code
• Parking available (register vehicle, avoid reserved spaces)
• Seasonal Influenza Vaccination or Declination required from Nov 1 to Apr 30
• Interview will be virtual via Teams with 2 to 3 managers
• Rotating weekend work required

Job Summary:
• This role supports the Supervisor of Referral Services
• Acts as a lead Referral Coordinator for the team
• Provides leadership, guidance, and coaching to team members
• Handles complex referral authorization issues
• Performs daily referral processing duties

Job Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and support to Referral Coordinators
• Assist with daily work direction and team coordination
• Coach new and less experienced team members
• Process external referrals using Health Connect and Online Affiliate
• Enter CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9 codes accurately
• Coordinate referral workflow according to policies and procedures
• Notify members about referral and authorization status
• Answer questions related to benefits, eligibility, and referrals
• Schedule external referral appointments, tests, and procedures
• Act as primary resource for coding, referral questions, and stakeholder communication
• Identify improvement areas in team processes
• Assist with scheduling and team coordination
