SENIOR SOLUTIONS ENGINEER

***Remote (Preferred candidates within 50-mile radius of Boston, MA, Portsmouth, NH, Plano, TX; will be working hybrid - 2 days a week in the office.)***



Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.

• 7+ years of related software engineering professional experience



Required Qualifications:

• Strong consultative skills, including the ability to understand and apply customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements

• Experience working in a broad technical leadership capacity – directing, coaching and mentoring across teams/product lines

• Cognizance of security concerns, from access control and authentication to secured SDLC processes

• Very strong communication and collaboration skills

• Well-versed in diverse technologies and technical architecture principles and concepts. Extensive knowledge in layered systems architecture solutions and designs and shared software concepts



Preferred Qualifications:

• Someone with Underwriting capability or understanding

• Insurance industry experience preferred



Required Technical Skills:

• Strong experience in delivery with agile in a scaled environment (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.)

• Experience developing and designing for the cloud. Knowledge of a breadth of technologies including: Angular, Java, JavaScript, Python, Typescript, AWS, Spring Boot, MySQL, Mongo Atlas, Drools, GraphQL, Flowable, Step Functions, MyBatis, AWS, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Bamboo, Ping, Azure

• Hands-on experience with build/deploy automation & DevOps frameworks (CI/CD, Bamboo, pipeline-as-code, AWS CDK/CFT)



Responsibilities:

• Responsible for leading the technical vision set by the Portfolio that enables development teams to create solutions that meet customer needs and align with technology guardrails & strategy

• Turn What into How: Work as a member of a scaled agile leadership team alongside Product leaders, Release Train Engineers, and System Architects to translate business strategies into technology solutions

• Build a Vision: Lead the vision and execution to transform foundational product platforms and underwriting capabilities into target technologies, guided by our North Star Architecture strategy

• Lead & Mentor: Work across multiple Scrum teams in a scaled agile environment to support and mentor developers in delivering their solutions and developing themselves

• Be Hands-on: Roll up your sleeves as you dissect and prepare complex features or assist teams with challenging issues

• Safeguard & Evangelize Best Practices: Consults on major architectural designs to ensure consistency, security, maintainability, and flexibility for overall system, technical, and product architectures within a domain or portfolio

• Support a Great Culture: As part of a broader leadership team, foster a high-performing culture based on trust, honesty, and transparency



Additional details:

• Ability to work well with others, partner and engage with team members, excel in a constantly changing environment, and of course AWS tech stack as well as Java experience

• Day-to-day will be: Sprint planning, working in an Agile environment, stand-ups, aligning with team members, etc.
