Job Description
Required Education:

• High School Diploma OR equivalent required



Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• Two (2) years of previous experience in a healthcare setting required

• Minimum of one (1) year of phone experience, including outgoing and/or inbound calls and escalations required

• Knowledge of medical terminology required

• Typing speed of 35 WPM required

• Strong customer service skills and the ability to multitask

• Experience using 10-key touch pad required

• Demonstrated customer service skills and customer-focused abilities

• Working knowledge and/or ability to understand CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding principles

• Professional communication and organizational skills required

• Seasonal Flu Vaccination/Declination required Nov 1 – Apr 30

• Flu vaccination required prior to start date for onsite workers



Overview:

• 3-month assignment to start with a high probability of extension

• Schedule: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day

• Parking deck available and parking permit provided

• Professional dress code required

• Potential opportunity for extension and possible FTE conversion based on business need



Job Summary:

• The Referral Processor I performs a variety of clerical procedures to process outside medical referrals, functions as a liaison, and works independently

• This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service while supporting members/patients and maintaining productive working relationships

• The ideal candidate will actively seek information to understand member/patient circumstances, expectations, and needs while responding quickly to resolve issues



Job Responsibilities:

• Process outside medical referrals accurately and efficiently

• Function as a liaison between members/patients and healthcare teams

• Handle inbound and outbound calls, including escalations when needed

• Build rapport and maintain cooperative relationships with members/patients

• Understand and respond to member/patient needs in a timely manner

• Maintain accurate records and documentation

• Utilize medical terminology, CPT-4, and ICD-9 coding knowledge in daily tasks

• Perform clerical and administrative support duties independently

• Demonstrate strong multitasking and customer service skills in a fast-paced environment
