Job Description
Required Education
• Degree: Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• OR Associate’s degree with equivalent experience.
• Internship Experience: May be accepted if it includes documented, project-based CMM programming skills that meet the PC DMIS requirements.
Technical Skills
• PC DMIS Programming: Advanced, Hexagon Level 3 certified or equivalent proficiency.
• Blueprint & GD&T: Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Data Analysis: Experience collecting, interpreting, and applying CMM inspection data.
Desired/Nice-to-Have Skills
• Software: Excel, PowerBI, Zeiss Calypso, Polyworks
Job Responsibilities
o Fluidly translate 3D engineering models and Caterpillar blueprints into CMM inspection programs using PC DMIS.
o Create, run off, debug, and maintain CMM checks for purchased finished goods.
o Support production, receiving inspection, APQP/PPAP (Advanced Product Quality Planning / Production Part Approval Process), warranty claims, and line failures.
o Work directly with suppliers to collaborate on CMM data and ensure alignment on quality standards.
o Provide mobile CMM arm (portable measuring arm) support as needed.
o Assist the team with technical problem resolution and daily operational issues related to software, CMM hardware, or product inspections.
o Perform data collection and analysis.
o Serve as a GD&T resource for internal teams.
o Drive departmental improvements to achieve operational excellence.
o Maintain strong records and documentation.
o Act as a key resource for Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, and the supply base.
o Daily interaction with work group and internal customers to resolve issues and support projects.
