Job Description
***Only qualified Project Manager candidates located in the Chattanooga, TN area will be considered due to the position requiring an on-site presence***

Required Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management, or technical field, or equivalent education, training and/or related work experience

Preferred Education:
• Master’s degree preferred but not required

Preferred Certifications:
• Project management institute (PMI) certification as project management professional (PMP) within one year of appointment or assuming the senior PM position (see spp-34.018 for exception/extension of one year timeframe)
• Additional professional certifications/licensures in the field of study preferred but not required (e.g., PE, CPA, CFP)

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
• Ability to plan, direct, manage, coordinate, implement, execute, control, and complete projects from initiation through completion
• Ability to lead Joint Project Teams (JPTs) and manage project schedule, cost, and performance risk
• Ability to ensure projects are completed within defined constraints (time, budget, people, quality, materials) and to a high level of quality
• Capability to manage large project budgets over $25 million, or a portfolio of projects totaling over $75 million
• Ability to serve as the single point of contact and assume a leadership role in safely managing assigned projects
• Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) within one year of appointment

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing large, multifaceted projects from initiation through completion. This includes ensuring adherence to specifications, budget, timeline, quality standards, and safety requirements. The role requires leadership of Joint Project Teams (JPTs), application of professional project management principles, and maintaining control over project cost, schedule, and performance risks. The Senior Project Manager acts as the primary point of contact for all aspects of the assigned project.

Job Duties:
• Plan, direct, manage, coordinate, and control all phases of assigned projects
• Implement and execute project plans according to specifications and budget constraints
• Lead Joint Project Teams (JPTs) using professional project management principles and techniques
• Monitor and control project schedule, cost, and risk to ensure successful completion
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards
• Serve as the single point of contact for assigned projects
• Manage large project budgets over $25 million or a portfolio of projects totaling over $75 million
• Obtain PMP certification within one year (if not already certified)
