Required Education:

Preferred License/Certification:

• Active Pharmacy Technician license or certification



Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a high-volume customer service or inbound call center environment

• Healthcare, insurance, PBM, pharmacy, medical office, or similar experience preferred

• Strong written and verbal customer service skills

• Advanced computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet utilization

• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Outlook

• Ability to navigate multiple systems while handling calls

• Strong data entry and documentation skills

• Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment

• Ability to meet mandatory overtime requirements

• Ability to work from a private, HIPAA-compliant workspace

• Hardwired internet connection required

• Smartphone required for use of the PING application



Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• At least 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience coordinating activities in an administrative support function

• Pharmacy Technician experience or knowledge

• Prior Authorization experience

• Experience documenting Prior Authorization approvals and denials

• Healthcare, insurance, PBM, pharmacy, or medical office experience

• Experience navigating multiple systems while handling high-volume calls

• Experience with Word and Excel



Pharmacy Technician Prior Authorization Representative Overview:

• The Pharmacy Technician Prior Authorization Representative provides professional and courteous telephone assistance to members, providers, pharmacies, and other callers throughout a criteria-based Prior Authorization process

• The representative handles incoming calls, gathers and documents required information, and maintains complete, timely, and accurate documentation of Prior Authorization approvals and denials

• Clinical questions, escalations, and judgment calls are transferred to the pharmacist team for appropriate review and decision-making. The role may also include outbound calls, reviewing and processing Prior Authorization requests received through fax and electronic Prior Authorization channels, monitoring department mailboxes, and performing other duties as assigned by leadership

• The position requires strong customer service and communication skills, advanced computer proficiency, accurate data entry, and the ability to navigate multiple systems while handling calls in a high-volume environment

• Pharmacy Technician experience is strongly preferred

• This is a fully remote, safety-sensitive position requiring a private HIPAA-compliant workspace, hardwired internet, and the ability to meet assigned schedules, training requirements, and mandatory overtime



Job Duties:

• Take incoming calls from members, providers, pharmacies, and other callers

• Provide professional and courteous phone assistance throughout the criteria-based Prior Authorization process

• Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation of approvals and denials

• Transfer clinical questions, escalations, and judgment calls to the pharmacist team

• Make outbound calls as needed

• Review and process Prior Authorization requests received through fax and electronic Prior Authorization

• Monitor and respond to department mailbox inquiries

• Navigate multiple systems while handling calls

• Perform accurate data entry and documentation

• Utilize Microsoft Teams and Outlook as part of the daily workflow

• Provide excellent customer service through verbal and written communication

• Maintain productivity and quality standards in a high-volume environment

• Follow procedures for handling confidential healthcare information

• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
