Required Education

Preferred License/Certification

• Pharmacy Technician License in good standing

• National pharmacy technician certification



Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience

• At least 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician coordinating activities in an administrative support function

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a customer service position with high-volume call center experience

• Advanced computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet utilization

• Excellent written and verbal customer service skills



Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience

• Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, social services, or a similar service position



Pharmacy Technician Overview

• Provides professional telephone assistance to members, providers, and other callers through a criteria-based prior authorization process

• Receives and manages incoming calls while maintaining a high standard of customer service

• Maintains complete, timely, and accurate documentation of all approvals and denials

• Applies established criteria and administrative processes to support prior authorization activities

• Identifies clinical questions and situations requiring professional judgment and transfers them to the pharmacist

• Supports accurate and efficient administrative operations while ensuring callers receive appropriate assistance



Job Duties

• Take incoming calls from members, providers, and other callers

• Average daily volume: 60-100 calls per day

• Provide professional phone assistance through the criteria-based prior authorization process

• Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation of all approvals and denials

• Transfer all clinical questions and judgment calls to the pharmacist
