Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent



Required License/Certification:

• Active Texas Pharmacy Technician registration

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT)



Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• Approximately 3–6 months of pharmacy technician experience

• Experience with prescription data entry

• Ability to read and interpret prescription terminology and medications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

• Strong attention to detail while multitasking across multiple programs

• Working knowledge of problem-solving and decision-making skills

• Knowledge of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint

• Candidate must reside in Texas

• Ability to work onsite in San Antonio, TX initially

• Ability to work in a secure and private workspace when transitioning to remote work

• Ability to maintain a quiet workspace with a closing door and ergonomic-friendly work area

• Ability to provide a direct/hardwired internet connection to a modem/router within 10 feet of the computer



Pharmacy Technician – Prescription Entry Overview:

• This position is primarily focused on prescription entry and pharmacy data entry activities

• The Pharmacy Technician will collect and accurately enter prescription information while following pharmacy protocols, legal requirements, and patient confidentiality standards

• The role may also involve insurance verification, obtaining necessary authorizations, resolving insurance-related questions, processing payments and copayments, and maintaining pharmacy inventory

• Candidates should be comfortable working with prescription terminology, medications, multiple computer applications, and high-volume data entry while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail



Job Duties:

• Address questions regarding over-the-counter medications and assist with product selection

• Provide guidance on non-prescription healthcare products

• Collect and enter prescription information accurately

• Ensure prescription data entry follows pharmacy protocols and legal requirements

• Assist with insurance verification by contacting insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations

• Resolve insurance-related issues and questions

• Handle cash register operations and process payments accurately

• Manage financial transactions including insurance claims and copayments

• Maintain inventory on the pharmacy front end including over-the-counter medications and health products

• Provide patient education regarding over-the-counter medications, including dosage instructions, potential side effects, and proper usage

• Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations, laws, and guidelines

• Protect patient confidentiality and follow controlled substance and prescription labeling requirements

• Prioritize tasks and manage customer queues efficiently

• Communicate effectively with pharmacy personnel

• Provide training and mentoring to less experienced pharmacy technicians or support staff

• Assist with onboarding new employees

• Contribute to maintaining a positive and productive work environment
