Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience

• At least 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician coordinating activities in an administrative support function

• 1+ year of pharmacy technician experience

• 1+ year of healthcare call center experience

• Prior Authorization Experience

• PBM, Health Plan, Specialty Pharmacy, or Managed Care Experience Preferred

• Strong Computer Skills (Assessment Required)

• Advanced computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet utilization



Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience

• Customer service experience in healthcare, social services, or a similar service environment



Pharmacy Technician Overview

• Provides professional telephone assistance to members, providers, and other callers throughout the criteria-based prior authorization process

• Receives and processes incoming calls and faxes while providing timely and accurate administrative support

• Maintains complete, timely, and accurate documentation of prior authorization approvals and denials

• Applies established criteria during the prior authorization process and escalates clinical questions and judgment calls to the pharmacist

• Supports efficient communication and documentation while delivering excellent customer service



Job Duties

• Receive incoming calls and faxes from members, providers, and other callers

• Provide professional phone assistance to all callers throughout the criteria-based prior authorization process

• Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation of all approvals and denials

• Transfer all clinical questions and judgment calls to the pharmacist
