Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician experience in an administrative support function
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience in a high-volume call center environment
• Advanced computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to stand for 8–10 hours per shift
• Ability to repeatedly lift 5–10 lbs throughout the shift
• Ability to occasionally lift 30–50 lbs unassisted
• Ability to reach, grasp, and handle objects at various levels
• Ability to work around moving machinery and conveyor systems
• Ability to use a keyboard and operate departmental equipment
Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
• Experience in healthcare, social services, specialty pharmacy, or a related service environment
Pharmacy Technician (CA Licensed) - Specialty Pharmacy Operations Overview:
• This position supports pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
• The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for selecting, picking, packaging, and preparing medications and supplies for shipment to patients while maintaining accurate records and assisting with inventory control processes
• The role also supports customer service functions, including handling inbound calls from members, providers, and other stakeholders, providing assistance through established prior authorization processes, maintaining complete and accurate documentation, and escalating clinical questions to a pharmacist as appropriate
• This is a safety-sensitive position that requires strict attention to detail, adherence to operational procedures, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• The selected candidate will also be cross-trained on Operations Assistant and Materials Coordinator responsibilities and may provide support in those functions as business needs require
• The position is highly physical and requires prolonged standing, frequent lifting, and working in proximity to warehouse equipment and conveyor systems
Job Duties:
• Select, pick, package, and prepare medications and supplies for patient shipment
• Maintain accurate records and documentation
• Assist with inventory control activities
• Handle inbound calls from members, providers, and other stakeholders
• Support prior authorization processes using established criteria
• Document approvals, denials, and related activities accurately and timely
• Transfer clinical questions and judgment-based decisions to a pharmacist
• Provide professional customer service and phone support
• Operate departmental equipment and systems
• Support Operations Assistant and Materials Coordinator functions as needed
• Follow all safety, quality, and compliance requirements
