Job Description
Required Education
• Verifiable high school diploma or GED

Required License
• Active California Pharmacy Technician License (required). (National certification is not acceptable)

Required Qualifications / Skills / Experience
• Minimum 3 months of work experience as a pharmacy technician.
• Ability to accurately count medications manually and using automated counting devices.
• Ability to enter data accurately using computer applications in line with production standards.
• Knowledge of drug names, basic pharmacology, and pharmacy law.
• Understanding of medical terminology used in a pharmacy environment.
• Ability to collaborate with team members to fill and ship accurate, timely orders.
• Ability to recognize decision-making limitations and appropriately escalate issues.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills / Experience
• 3 months of experience in a pick/pack/ship or pharmacy fulfillment environment
• 3 months of work experience using computers in a production setting
• Experience in healthcare, social services, or similar service-oriented environments

Pharmacy Tech I – Filling Technician Overview
• Works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to prepare medications and supplies for patient shipment.
• Responsible for selecting, picking, counting, packaging, and labeling medications in compliance with pharmacy laws and specialty guidelines.
• Supports inventory control, cleanliness, and safe medication handling.
• Will be cross-trained to support Operations Assistant / Materials Coordinator responsibilities as needed.
• Assignment may be extended depending on FTE return and budget; potential conversion possible for the right candidate.

Job Duties
• Select, pick, package, and label medications and ancillary supplies per prescription.
• Accurately count medications using manual and automated counting devices.
• Perform proper hand sanitization and hazardous medication handling practices.
• Prepare and restock filling stations with medications and supplies.
• Clean pill counting devices, equipment, and general work areas.
• Perform record-keeping and inventory control functions.
• Assist with Operations Assistant (packer) responsibilities as needed.
• Support accurate and timely shipment of medications to patients.
• Adhere strictly to client’s specialty guidelines, pharmacy laws, and safety requirements.

Physical Demands
• Stand for 8–10 hours per shift
• Repeatedly lift 5–10 lbs. throughout the shift
• Occasionally lift up to 30–50 lbs. unassisted (required)
• Reaching and grasping objects at various heights
• Frequent keyboard use and operation of departmental machinery.

Specific Details to Call Attention To
• Active CA Pharmacy Technician License is mandatory
• Safety-sensitive role with strict compliance expectations
• Cross-training required for Operations Assistant / Materials Coordinator duties
• Physical lifting requirements up to 50 lbs. unassisted
