Job Description
Required Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or PharmD

Required License/Certification:
• Active Pharmacist license in good standing in the state of residence

Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
• Minimum two years of experience as a pharmacist
• Strong pharmacy experience in a retail or hospital setting
• Basic computer skills
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to review prescriptions, patient profiles, drug interactions, sensitivities, and medication usage
• Ability to perform prescription data entry and final dispensing quality checks
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and physicians
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Ability to meet remote-work technology and security requirements

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
• Pharmacy Manager experience
• Staff Pharmacist experience with the same employer
• Prior Authorization experience in a PBM environment
• Home infusion therapy experience
• Leadership, residency, fellowship, project, or initiative experience
• Experience working in a productivity-driven pharmacy environment

Clinical Pharmacist Overview:
• The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for reviewing and completing pharmacy-related criteria in accordance with established policies and procedures while supporting safe, accurate, and effective medication services
• The role involves reviewing patient profiles, drug interactions, sensitivities, medication usage, and prescription information to determine appropriate clinical action
• The pharmacist may provide physician clarification, conduct therapeutic interventions, support physician phone calls, and assist with patient medication questions and concerns. Responsibilities also include prescription data entry, dispensing medications, performing final quality checks, and resolving orders through designated pharmacy queues
• The pharmacist will collaborate with other pharmacy professionals to ensure prescription accuracy and quality
• This fully remote position requires a dedicated and secure workspace, reliable high-speed internet, smartphone access for VPN authentication, and camera participation during training and team meetings
• The position offers a contract-to-hire opportunity, although permanent employment is not guaranteed

Job Duties:
• Review and complete prior authorization criteria according to policy and procedure
• Review patient profiles, drug interactions, sensitivities, and medication usage
• Determine whether prescriptions require physician clarification or therapeutic intervention
• Enter prescriptions into the computer system
• Assist with patient services and medication-related questions
• Contact physicians to resolve prescription questions or concerns
• Support doctor phone calls and therapeutic intervention activities as assigned
• Maintain established quality assurance procedures
• Follow security requirements for controlled substances
• Follow procedures for disposal of hazardous waste drugs
• Collaborate with pharmacy team members to ensure prescription accuracy
• Dispense prescription medications
• Perform final dispensing quality checks for accuracy and dosage
• Resolve orders through the External Adjudication queue
• Coordinate clinical services for specialty medications
• Communicate with patients and healthcare professionals regarding patient care
