Job Description
Required Education:
• Associate's degree in public administration, HR Management, or related field
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
• 2 years of experience in payroll
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities
• Demonstrated adaptability and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
• Familiar with federal and state payroll/wage laws
• Business/fiscal management acumen and HR competencies
• Knowledge of collective bargaining requirements related to payroll
• Understanding of state government organization and agency functions
HR Payroll Technician Job Summary:
The Human Resources Technician Payroll position is responsible for assisting the HR Data and Payroll Services division with the timely and accurate payroll processing for assigned department(s). The incumbent will audit and process timesheets following complex time and attendance rules, including scheduling, overtime, and various compensation/incentive payments.
Human Resource Technician Payroll Job Responsibilities:
• Process payroll for assigned state departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Audit timesheets and payroll records to verify proper application of time and attendance rules, overtime, and other compensation
• Assist with executing and developing the department's internal payroll processes
• Serve as a resource to solve payroll-related requests, problems, and questions
