Overview:

•Under indirect supervision, the Surgery Scheduling Coordinator schedules patients for surgery according to the type of surgery (urgent or routine) and the access standards and scheduling directives provided. This role ensures the surgical encounter, whether outpatient or inpatient, is coordinated properly and scheduled accurately and efficiently.



Job Summary:

•The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator provides the highest quality customer service to members, practitioners, and external surgical sites through coordination of multidisciplinary facets of care, both internal and external. This role manages and coordinates surgical schedules, cross-specialty schedules, and availability of appropriate equipment and supplies for surgical cases, while acting as a liaison between the Specialist, PCP, and Hospitalists.



Job Responsibilities:

•Answer incoming calls and provide excellent customer service

•Book surgeries and coordinate surgical scheduling

•Book pre-op and post-op appointments

•Coordinate information flow between the Specialist, PCP, and Hospitalists

•Manage data processing, diagnostic reporting, and clinical information gathering

•Verify coverage and complete QRM authorization and all other pre-operative requirements

•Obtain authorization from outside insurers for Medicaid patients using their independent authorization system

•Manage incoming calls, data queues, and other reporting tools to update, cancel, and reschedule surgeries
