Summary:


Client Reality Labs brings together a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to create the future of mixed and virtual reality. In order for this organization of 20k people to meet the changing demands for its features and products, we need to forecast, validate requests, and distribute the production capacity in a fair manner.

Our team aims to create a system and set of processes that enable efficient allocation and provide granular visibility into the usage of capacity with near-zero resource waste. As a Capacity Operations Specialist, you will work closely with experts in capacity and efficiency to support capacity operations across vital services and enable the revolution on how people interact with computing devices.

Job Responsibilities:
•Understand how the business operates and plans for future capacity requirements.
•Act as the first point of contact for hardware capacity requests of a large organization.
•Validates requests systematically based on existing supply constraints, and distributes capacity to teams using internal tools.
•Performs economic and other analysis as required to recommend solutions that optimize costs.
•Follow and improve operational processes for capacity request intake and distribution. Identify opportunities to improve existing processes. Work closely with capacity engineers to provide feedback on process gaps and discuss automation opportunities.
•Document work and keep track of progress and blockers by leveraging internal tools. Setup and maintain project wikis and documentation.

Minimum qualifications:
•Strong verbal and written communication skills, multi-tasking, customer service skills and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to ramp up quickly in a dynamic setup.
•Ability to unblock themselves, work independently in a diverse environment with heavy cross functional collaboration.
•Ability to keep information organized and confidential.
•Experience with computer and system architecture: compute (CPU, GPU, memory) and data storage and warehouse solutions (MySQL, Hive).

Preferred qualifications:
•Background in ML systems (distributed training, high performance computing, Pytorch).
•Experience with system performance metrics (latency, throughput, bandwidth, power consumption) and associated costs.

Top 3 must-have HARD skills:
1. Adaptability and openness to change.
2. Verbal communication.
3. Computer science expertise.
4.Hardware research management would be great- using the tools to track (dollar amount...)
5.ML engineering experience would be helpful as well
6.XFN communication, attention to detail, record keeping- paper trail of events

Good to have skills:
•Cross functional collaboration.
•Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
•Anything with system architecture, background in ML, hyper performance computing, system performance matrix experience (bandwidth, dollar consumption...)

Education/Experience:
Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent training required.
•3-5 years of experience in one of the domains above.
