Job Description
Required Education:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
Required Skills and Experience:
• 1 year of relevant experience, required
• Intermediate experience with either a high reach or counterbalance required
• Ability to obtain a forklift certification within 2 days of employment
• Ability to read and interpret distribution documents in English
• Ability to operate MHE and use an RF scanner
• Basic analytical, organizational and prioritization skills
• General distribution knowledge
• Basic computer skills
• Strong initiative and drive for results.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Experience with Manhattan WMS, preferred.
Forklift Operator (High Reach & Counterbalance) Responsibilities:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate movement of products within the distribution center. Job Responsibilities: (Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities) · Transport palletized product within the distribution center (unload, put away double deep, bulk and full pallet pick, load, replenishment) · Operate material handling equipment, including high reach, counterbalance, electric pallet jack, and dock stocker. · Use RF Scanner and WMS to ensure inventory accuracy and track products throughout the site. · Ensure product integrity while performing all tasks. · Follow site safety procedures, including required PPE (safety vest, safety shoes). · Cross train and become knowledgeable in other areas. Provide backup support when required.
While performing this job, the associate is regularly exposed to episodes of walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, hearing, twisting, lifting, frequent use of hand to finger, handle, feel, pick or type which can include repetitive motion of the wrists, hands or fingers.
The associate may occasionally be required to climb.
The job may require lifting over 50lbs in some areas but not all.
Associate must have normal field of vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye and must have hearing sufficient to safely operate MHE [Material Handling Equipment] in a manufacturing/distribution environment.
Work Environment
The noise level is moderate to loud.
There will almost always be exposure to work near moving mechanical equipment, exposure to precarious situations.
Occasionally the position will have exposure to fumes/airborne particles.
This role may require a mandatory medical evaluation in compliance with BD’s obligations under applicable occupational health and safety laws.
