Job Description

Required Education:
• Associate’s degree in legal assistance or
• Associate’s degree plus a Legal Assistant Certificate from an accredited institution

Required Skills, Experience, and Knowledge:
• 2 years of experience providing complex legal clerical or legal support services
• Knowledge of legal terminology, legal processes, legal forms, and legal research techniques
• Experience reviewing legal documents and maintaining legal records
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret laws and legal documents
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive legal matters

Job Responsibilities:
• Schedule legal proceedings and maintain case calendars
• Prepare, review, and edit legal documents and filings as directed
• Review legal revisions with Administrative Law Judges when needed
• Verify exhibit lists for accuracy and ensure proper exhibit storage
• Draft and edit communications, including reports, proposals, emails, and website content
• Maintain accurate electronic legal records and update case information promptly
• Serve as a liaison between internal agency units and ensure consistent communication
• Monitor email inboxes and respond to inquiries, adjournment requests, and attorney correspondence
• Manage correspondence, calendars, mail distribution, and general office communications
• Answer telephone inquiries and support general email accounts
• Assist leadership and administrative specialists with legal and operational tasks
• Perform additional legal or administrative duties as assigned
