Job Description
Required Education:
• Associate of Science in Biology, Chemistry, or related fields.
Preferred Education:
• Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, or related fields.
Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in microbiological analyses or related fields.
• Knowledge of service laboratory routine.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, cross-contamination management/mitigation in laboratories.
• Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Flexibility to change priorities and schedules.
• Good communication skills, written and spoken in English.
• Strong communication/report writing skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills/Qualifications:
• Practical and theoretical knowledge of ISO 17025.
• Knowledge of cross-contamination management/mitigation in laboratories.
• Experience and skill in using computers, filling out spreadsheets (Excel), Word, ELN, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Practical laboratory skills and ability to troubleshoot/maintain complex laboratory instrumentation.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of biological risk control plans, laboratory safety, and chemical management.
The Microbiology Laboratory performs microbiological analyses of raw materials, environmental samples, stability samples, and finished products. The candidate will report to the Operations Manager, the Microbiology Laboratory Analyst supports the operation of the Regional Microbiology Laboratory.
Responsibilities:
• Physically receive samples for testing and electronically receive and register samples in LIMS.
• Perform quality and documentation checks as necessary.
• Prepares and maintains documentation and records in accordance with the Regional Laboratory Quality Management System and aligned standards.
• Reports deviations of analytical equipment through monitoring systems to the Microbiological Operations Manager and/or Senior Analyst.
• Operates, manages, and maintains analytical and preparation equipment in optimal operational conditions.
• Participates in inventory management, reagents, and consumables to avoid shortages and regularly monitors the needs of the regional laboratory.
• Participates in equipment and method validation.
• Responsible for preparing microbiological media and reagents.
• Responsible for decontamination of biohazardous waste.
• Capable of conducting the initial stages of analyses (sample receipt and preparation) according to the operational procedures in the laboratory.
• Manage document cycling and support related administrative tasks.
• Performs cleaning processes for surfaces, equipment, and utensils as per the frequency established in work instructions.
• Carries out environmental monitoring activities according to work instructions.
• Comply with Site and Laboratory Health, Safety, and Environment requirements.
