Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience working with public health or medical surveillance databases (ShowMe World Care experience preferred).
• Knowledge of environmental health or epidemiological data systems and reporting processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data review and documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic document management systems.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with public health reporting standards preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience reading and interpreting laboratory test result reports.
• Skilled in manual data entry of laboratory and medical results.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills when working with healthcare providers and partner agencies.

Position Summary:
The Lab Technician is responsible for supporting environmental public health surveillance activities by performing data management, case investigation, and reporting functions within the ShowMe World Care surveillance database. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and complete reporting of environmental health conditions, including lead poisoning, carbon monoxide exposure, hyperthermia, and hypothermia cases.

Key Responsibilities:
• Utilize the ShowMe World Care data surveillance system to enter, update, and maintain case and laboratory report data.
• Assist with investigation and research to resolve issues related to reportable environmental conditions.
• Review and analyze laboratory reports involving:
• Child and adult blood lead levels.
• Carbon monoxide exposure.
• Hyperthermia and hypothermia incidents.
• Communicate with healthcare providers, laboratories, and medical facilities via phone, fax, and email to request additional case information or medical records.
• Perform manual data entry of finalized laboratory test results and medical case information.
• Review, categorize, and route laboratory reports and medical documentation to appropriate folders for staff review and follow-up.
• Maintain compliance with confidentiality requirements, data quality standards, and public health reporting regulations.
• Collaborate with internal program staff and other public health professionals to support data accuracy and reporting efficiency.
