Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent



Requirements:

• 1+ year of relevant laboratory, sample processing, manufacturing, agricultural, or related experience preferred/required

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate sample identification and documentation

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workloads, and meet daily processing requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and related applications

• Ability to follow established laboratory procedures, safety requirements, and workplace policies

• Comfortable handling and processing laboratory and forage samples

• Willingness to work with samples that may contain common allergens, including milk, peanuts, eggs, tree nuts, soy, gluten, fish, and shellfish



Laboratory & Safety Requirements

• Must wear appropriate leather shoes in the laboratory; contractors are responsible for obtaining compliant footwear before the start date

• Contact lenses are not permitted while working in the laboratory

• A clean-shaven appearance may be required when performing duties involving respirator use

• Must consistently follow laboratory safety, housekeeping, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements



Overview (Processing Technician)

The Processing Technician will support the Rapid Analysis Department in Elk River by managing laboratory samples, maintaining document retention systems, and assisting with sample preparation and forage analysis. This role involves hands-on laboratory processing, including sample grinding, weighing, labeling, and NIR scanning, while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, able to prioritize multiple tasks, and comfortable working collaboratively in a laboratory setting.



Responsibilities

• Manage the daily receipt, organization, processing, and tracking of laboratory samples

• Maintain accurate sample labeling, identification, documentation, and retention records

• Prepare samples for analysis, including grinding, weighing, and other required preparation activities

• Perform NIR scanning and assist with forage sample analysis according to established procedures

• Ensure samples are processed accurately and efficiently while meeting departmental timelines

• Maintain organized laboratory work areas and perform routine housekeeping activities to support a clean and safe environment

• Follow all laboratory safety procedures, workplace policies, and applicable operating procedures

• Use Microsoft Office 365 and related systems to maintain records, documentation, and communications

• Communicate effectively with processing team members and other departments regarding sample status, issues, and priorities

• Identify and communicate sample-processing issues or discrepancies to the appropriate team members

• Prioritize daily workload and adjust activities as needed to meet processing requirements

• Support the Processing Team with additional laboratory and sample-related activities as assigned

• Maintain a professional, collaborative, and safety-focused work environment
