Hours: 6:30 am-3:00 pm CST

An instrument repair technician will perform the following duties: Repair electronic measurement devices (transducers, data acquisition systems, and components), inspect and repair instrumentation and cables, maintain repair documentation, program data acquisition systems in order to verify transducer functionality, conduct data verification runs, review data for anomalies, advanced radio hardware troubleshooting and programming, modify off-the-shelf instrumentation to work on test machines, and repair component level hardware. Candidate may also strain gage components, assist instrumentation team with applying/removing transducers on machines, assist with laptop support, or assist with instrumentation asset management, as needed.

Typical task breakdown:
The typical day will include time spent at a bench in a lab, troubleshooting and fixing electronic measurement devices. The candidate will receive work requests from computer, other technicians, and engineers. The technician will troubleshoot and follow-up, as necessary, to complete the repairs, order necessary repair parts, and/or explain issues. Must occasionally lift parts up to 50 pounds.

Interaction with team:
- Candidate will work closely with a lead to make repairs on measurement devices and hardware. Candidate will support a team that installs instrumentation on machines and calibrates equipment.

Work environment:
- The work environment will be primarily at a bench in a lab environment. The technician may be required to make instrument repairs on a machine in the field (onsite) on rare occasions.

Education & Experience Required:
Associates degree in electronics, engineering technology or related, or 5-7 years'''' experience in instrument repair.

Technical Skills:
(Required)
The candidate must be comfortable troubleshooting a variety of electrical components. The successful candidate will use electrical tools, including a scope and multimeter, to troubleshoot and repair electronic measurement devices. The candidate will need to read schematics for troubleshooting components and creation of wiring harnesses. When schematics are not available, the candidate will need to draw upon previous electronics knowledge of circuitry and circuit boards to troubleshoot. The successful candidate will be familiar with and comfortable using hand tools and small power tools to make repairs, including a soldering iron, wrenches, a rotary tool, drill press, and crimpers. Candidate must be comfortable using computers for training, research, documentation, and communication.

The applicant will need to be self-motivated to manage tasks with a set priority. The candidate will need to work with other technicians and engineers through in-person interactions, phone, email, and written work order requests.
