Required Education:

• High School Diploma or GED.



Preferred Education:

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field.



Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• 2 to 4 years of demonstrated laboratory experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Ability to understand and follow experimental protocols

• Strong data recording and documentation skills

• Ability to handle toxic chemicals while adhering to laboratory safety protocols

• Capability to stand for extended periods while working in a laboratory environment



Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• Experience in coatings, paints, or chemical formulation

• Familiarity with laboratory testing methods and performance evaluation techniques



Laboratory Technician Overview

• This role supports Technical Services operations by assisting in the testing, formulation, and evaluation of coatings and related chemical products

• The position involves working under the guidance of a Senior Technician or Chemist while maintaining a high degree of independence and initiative in executing assigned tasks

• The technician is responsible for conducting experiments using established laboratory procedures and ensuring accurate documentation of results in laboratory notebooks and digital systems

• The role requires regular use of computer tools to compile, analyze, and present experimental data in the form of charts and reports

• Hands-on work includes preparing chemical formulations such as cleaners, pretreatments, paints, and coatings, as well as testing their performance characteristics

• The position demands strict adherence to safety protocols, especially when working with hazardous or toxic materials, while maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment



Job Duties

• Perform testing of coatings and related materials

• Evaluate, collect, and record experimental data

• Conduct experiments following established procedures

• Document and summarize results in laboratory notebooks

• Enter and organize data using computer systems, including charts and tables

• Prepare chemical formulations such as cleaners, pretreatments, paints, and coatings

• Test performance characteristics of coated substrates using standard procedures

• Work under supervision of a Senior Technician or Chemist while demonstrating initiative and independence.
