Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience
• Expert level knowledge of core Java concepts and frameworks such as Spring Boot and Microservices
• Well versed with OOP concepts and design patterns
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark (with Java)
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
• Extensive development expertise in building highly scalable and high-performance software platforms for data computation and processing
• Knowledge of containerized deployments and cloud-native architecture
• Familiarity with Agile software development and DevOps best practices
• Experience with caching solutions like Pinot, Redis, etc.
• Experience with relational and/or document-oriented databases
• Strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and scripting
• Ability to translate business and analytical requirements into efficient technical solutions
• Ability to guide junior staff, influence technical direction, and manage multiple initiatives in parallel
• Typically 8+ years of relevant experience building large-scale, production-grade systems, with demonstrated depth in Java-based backend development and distributed system design
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and drive projects independently
• Ability to align technology with business goals and regulatory needs
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Overview
• We are seeking an expert Senior Java Spark Developer to join our Market Risk Technology team.
• This is a hands-on Lead Engineer role where the successful candidate will spend a significant portion of their time designing, building, and optimizing Java-based systems while providing technical leadership, architectural guidance, and
mentorship within the squad.
• The Market Risk Technology Team develops software to measure and monitor Market Risk and Capital for the firm's global portfolio. The team is responsible for designing and implementing technology solutions that calculate market risk, support
daily risk simulations and analytics estimating potential losses across multiple time horizons, and collaborate closely with Risk Managers, Market Risk Analytics teams, senior management, and regulatory stakeholders globally.
• The team continuously evolves existing risk management tools, frameworks, and processes, while developing new solutions to meet changing business and regulatory requirements.
• This is a high-visibility, high-impact opportunity to shape the future of risk technology at scale, collaborate with experts in quantitative finance and technology, and make a meaningful contribution to the firm's risk management capabilities.

Job Duties
• Build and optimize distributed, scalable data platforms that compute market risk analytics, including Value at Risk (VaR) and Stress Testing for global trading portfolios
• Architect big data solutions
• Drive performance tuning
• Partner with quantitative researchers and risk managers
• Lead technical design and implementation of key components of the Market Risk platform
• Design, build, and optimize Java-based systems
• Communicate regularly with product leads across the technology organization to discuss opportunities for improving existing and future technology solutions
• Implement scalable and high-performance computing solutions for market risk computation and analysis
• Implement containerized deployments and integrate with modern data platforms such as Snowflake for cloud-based data processing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global counterparts to deliver high-quality solutions
• Optimize risk data processing pipelines to improve efficiency and response time
• Partner with Risk, Model Governance, and Compliance stakeholders to ensure regulatory requirements are accurately implemented in market risk technology
• Work in an Agile development environment to ensure timely and efficient product delivery
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers in the squad
