General Project Summary:
This position will work across the cancer continuum of care to reduce health inequity, disparities and the overall morbidity, mortality and burden of cancer in South Dakota by implementing work funded through the CDC’s Comprehensive Cancer Control Program Cooperative Agreement according to Client and Prevention guidance.
This position will provide guidance and support to the Client Cancer Coalition and support the updating, implementation, tracking and communication of the Client Cancer Plan. This position will develop and maintain partnerships to enhance coordination and leverage resources between public health and Client and local organizations to implement policy, system, and environmental strategies that effectively address the prevention and management of cancer and related risk factors. This position will lead task forces and cross-cutting committees within the Client Cancer Coalition.
This position will work closely with state and national comprehensive cancer control programs, in addition to local organizations and communities focused on cancer prevention and control initiatives. This position will develop and monitor contracts, collaborate on program evaluation, and provide subject matter expertise on evidence based interventions, related surveillance data, and current literature on promising practices and trends in the field. This position will support the coordination across department cancer programs to advance health and equity through allocation of funding and programmatic and policy efforts. This position will also identify program areas of concern, provide technical assistance to partners and support communication efforts with the intent and priorities of the Client Comprehensive Cancer Control Program.
Scope of Work:
Client is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Client Cancer Coalition Coordinator. This position would be full time, 40 hours a week. Activities include but are not limited to:
Serve as a project lead and technical expert for the Client Cancer Coalition:
1. Execute activities, priorities, and efforts necessary to implement the Client Cancer Plan in coordinated efforts between the Client Comprehensive Cancer Control Program and the.
2. Lead Client task forces and cross-cutting committees and provide technical assistance in the identification and implementation of evidence-based interventions and policy, systems, and environmental change strategies.
3. Lead periodic assessment of Client member composition and actively recruit new and non-traditional partners to support Coalition efforts.
4. Develop partner relationships and identify opportunities for leveraging of resources to support statewide and local projects.
5. Develop targeted outreach, public and provider education, and cancer screening promotion as it relates to the goals and objectives of the Client in collaboration with Client members.
6. Collaborate with Client Leadership to plan and execute meetings, develop agendas, and deliver training, education, and technical assistance to Client members.
7. Navigate Client members in acquiring Client resources and materials and connecting members with resources from other local, statewide, and national partners.
8. Collaborate with inter- and intra-agency partners to promote, implement, and evaluate the work of the Client and the implementation of the Client Cancer Plan.
Support Client CCCP program management efforts:
1. Collaborate with and provide input to the Client Comprehensive Cancer Program Coordinator on program planning and budget allocations to support cancer coalition strategy implementation and management.
2. Participate in meetings, conference calls, and trainings by CDC and national partners as appropriate.
3. Collect and report information for required CDC reporting which includes submission of information via the Awards Management Platform (AMP).
4. Engage in the ongoing evaluation of the Client CCCP programs and efforts and guide the evaluation of the Client in collaboration with contracted evaluator staff.
A Bachelor's degree in a health-related field such as health promotion, public health, or nursing.
Knowledge of:
• Evidence-based public health practices such as assessment, program development, policy implementation, and evaluation;

• Implementing, monitoring, and evaluating evidence-based interventions;
• Partnership development.
