Job Description
Required Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in either Healthcare, Business Administration, or Information Technology
• Equivalent combination of applicable Surgery education and experience

Required Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
• 5+ years demonstrated experience as a Clinical Business Analyst / Clinical Informatics Analyst (or equivalent) responsible for Surgical-related requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, use case analysis, business process analysis, detailed design activities, and developing business analysis documentation obtained in the last 10 years
• 5+ years demonstrated experience working within acute care Health Information Systems (EHR/CIS), and healthcare operations as it relates to Surgery
• 3+ years demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst/Clinical Informatics Analyst in health information systems/CIS implementation projects with direct experience working in healthcare operations Health Information Systems (EHR/CIS), building or implementing a similar scale project as it relates to Surgery

Preferred Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
• 6+ years demonstrated experience as a Clinical Business Analyst specific to surgical workflows, responsible for requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, use case analysis, business process analysis, detailed design activities, and developing business analysis documentation in one or more of the following surgical areas within an acute care EHR/CIS environment:
o Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE)
o Surgical Order Sets
o Perioperative Documentation
o Anesthesia Records
o Ancillary Services (Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, Laboratory)
• Strong verbal and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills in French and English
• 3+ years demonstrated facilitation skills leading workshops with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perioperative nurses, surgical schedulers, and other healthcare providers to identify and articulate business requirements, system requirements, and develop user stories or use cases
• 5+ years demonstrated experience working with a high level of self-direction, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to confidently engage and collaborate with project team members, subject matter experts, and stakeholders at all levels
• 5+ years demonstrated ability to multi-task, work with multiple teams supporting more than one project stream/activity at a time
• 5+ years knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, Teams)
• 2+ years demonstrated experience and knowledge of using Atlassian JIRA software in a project/work environment
• Previous experience working within public health authorities or large surgical programs, showcasing a strong understanding of surgical workflows, policies, and practices

Summary:
The Clinical Business Analysts (CBA) – Surgery to support the standardization of surgical documentation, workflows, resource utilization, and the CIS implementation. The primary focus is to support the creation of standard order sets, documentation templates, and other workflows used by physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other regulated health professionals providing bedside care as it relates to Surgery. The CBA will be required to work closely with other team members, Subject Matter Experts (SME), and clinical stakeholders in the gathering of business requirements and design of new standards to be adopted province wide. This role serves as a subject matter expert on the impact that digitization of clinical processes will have on the design of content, workflows, and procedures.
The chosen individual’s work will be comprised of a mixture of steady state and project-based efforts.

Job Duties:
• Support the building and standardization of surgical documentation and related workflows used by clinicians, physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other regulated health professionals providing bedside care
• Act as a subject matter expert on the impact that CISs and digitization of clinical processes will have on the design of surgical documentation, related content, workflows, and procedures
• Facilitate engagement sessions/focus groups to achieve surgical documentation standardization and other project objectives
• Work closely with other team members, Subject Matter Experts, and clinical stakeholders in the gathering of clinical requirements and design of new standards to be adopted province wide
• Gather and define clinical and system requirements, conduct gap analysis, and develop design documents
• Perform requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, use case analysis, clinical process analysis, detailed design activities, and develop clinical analysis documentation
• Collaborate with the Symbio Business Stream and provincial Materials Management SMEs to ensure a cohesive surgical supply chain integration within CIS
• Support seamless adoption of clinical documentation standards and workflows
• Support the implementation of the CIS by defining clinical requirements and workflows, designing and building in the CIS, unit and integrated testing, training, go-live support, and other related CIS implementation project activities
