SUMMARY
This role is for someone who enjoys hands on work, learning new skills, and working with plants and equipment. The Greenhouse Maintenance & Research Technician supports daily greenhouse operations by helping care for crops and assisting with basic equipment maintenance. You’ll work with row crops such as canola, corn, cotton, and soybeans in greenhouses and growth chambers, learning how plant growth, environmental controls, and facility systems work together.

This is a great opportunity for individuals with a strong interest in plant science, greenhouse production, or technical maintenance who want to grow their skills in a controlled environment research setting.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Biology, Horticulture, Plant Science, Engineering Technology, or related life sciences field.
• Equivalent experience or training will be considered (greenhouse work, technical trades, agricultural experience, or similar hands on roles).

REQUIRED SKILLS
• 0–4 years of experience in greenhouse work, plant care, maintenance, or related areas.
• Interest in plant science, greenhouse production, agriculture, or technical systems.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Rotational weekend work or Holiday may be required (typically for plant watering or checks).

RESPONSIBILITIES
Greenhouse & Plant Care
• Assist with daily plant care tasks including sowing, sampling, transplanting, watering, harvesting, discarding plant material, and seed processing.
• Monitor plant health and environmental conditions while learning standard greenhouse procedures.
• Help maintain clean, organized workspaces to support safe and efficient operations.
• Work hands on with row crops through all growth stages.

Equipment & Facility Support
• Assist with basic troubleshooting of greenhouse and growth chamber equipment.
• Support preventive maintenance tasks and learn how environmental control systems operate.
• Report equipment or environmental issues to the supervisor promptly.
• Learn proper care and use of tools and follow established safety procedures.

Work Environment Expectations
• Work includes standing for extended periods and working in warm greenhouse conditions, especially in summer months.
• Day to day tasks vary, offering exposure to many aspects of greenhouse research operations.
