Description: Financial Reporting Analyst
Job Summary
The Analyst/Financial Reporting will assist with the preparation of external financial reports and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance for Client entities. Assists in establishing accounting processes and systems to enable the transition of accounting and reporting activities from Client. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Prepare and review of consolidated financial statements for Client including disclosures for inclusion in quarterly and annual SEC filings.
-Prepare stand-alone subsidiary financial statements and footnotes.
-Assist with accounting research and analysis to assess the impact of changes to accounting, audit and regulatory standards, including documenting the impacts on accounting policies and disclosures.
-Assist with drafting accounting position papers for immediate management review.
-Assist with the design, testing, implementation, upgrade, maintenance and end-user support of accounting-related systems and software applications.
-Support audits of financial statements for Client and subsidiaries including responding to auditor requests.
-Prepare financial statements for the Employee Investment Plan (or 401(k) plan) and assist in preparation of IRS Forms 5500.
-Assist in maintaining compliance with Section 404 of the SOX, including assisting with the annual risk assessment and documentation of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
-Support the quarterly SOX sub-certification process for Client entities and their assessment of the sufficiency of internal control, and report assessments to immediate management and to parent entity/public registrant.
-Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for this job include the following:
-3+ years of experience in Accounting and Reporting functions,
-3+ preferably with a rate-regulated entity
-Working knowledge of GAAP and FERC accounting standards and practices- -Working knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting -Experience performing month-end close process – preferred -Experience training staff – preferred -Experience with big-4 accounting firm – preferred -SAP accounting system experience – preferred -Aptitude for learning and developing new processes -Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
-Proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Education Requirements
-Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
-Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description -CPA Preferred
