Job Title: Senior General Accounting Analyst

The Senior/General Accounting will lead the general accounting functions, including month-end close processes and FERC reporting. S/he will assist in building a high-performing team and establishing accounting systems and processes to enable the transition of accounting activities from Client. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following
• Lead month-end close process, including: journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, intercompany accounting, allocations, subledger balancing, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare quarterly and annual FERC forms, including GAAP to FERC reconciliation.
• Prepare monthly reporting package for subsidiary.
• Maintain and support accounting systems, including: chart of account maintenance, general ledger interfaces, subledger balancing and reconciliation routines, and system access rights.
• Maintain and reconcile interfaces with ADP (3rd party payroll processor).
• Support payroll account reconciliations and payroll audits.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls.
• Research and analysis related to GAAP and regulatory accounting issues and ratemaking implications.
• Support accounts payable and P-card functions as needed.
• Provide training and leadership to accounting staff.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for this job include the following:
• 5+ years of experience in Accounting functions, preferably with a rate-regulated entity
• Working knowledge of GAAP and FERC accounting standards and practices
• Sound understanding of internal controls
• Aptitude for learning and developing new processes
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments
• Ability to receive instructions and guidance on unusual or complex problems and know when to get others involved
• Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Experience performing month-end close process – preferred
• Experience training staff – preferred
• Experience with big-4 accounting firm – preferred
• SAP accounting system experience – preferred

Education Requirements

Education (Minimum Requirements)
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field – required
• Master’s degree – preferred

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
• Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
