Job Description
Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)



Required Experience:

• 4+ years of relevant experience in financial analysis, capital planning, portfolio analysis, investment decision support, or related experience

• Experience with capital planning, investment analysis, or portfolio-level decision support (not just reporting)

• Experience with multi-year investment planning, scenario analysis, or portfolio optimization

• Experience in utility, energy, or regulated infrastructure environments



Preferred Experience:

• Experience analyzing large, complex datasets and developing insights using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar

• Experience with capital planning and enterprise systems (SAP preferred; exposure to Copperleaf, Foundry, or similar tools a plus)



Required Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of financial structures (cost, risk, benefits) and investment tradeoffs under constraints

• Ability to translate complex analytical outputs into clear, decision-ready insights for leadership

• Ability to work with large, complex datasets and connect outputs to financial and planning decisions

• Strong structured problem-solving, with ability to evaluate tradeoffs and develop decision options

• Ability to connect data financial constraints portfolio decisions executive outcomes

Senior Financial Analyst Overview

The Integrated Grid Planning (IGP) organization is seeking a Senior Portfolio Planning & Investment Analyst to support the development of optimized, multi-year electric investment plans. This role focuses on portfolio-level analysis, evaluating financial tradeoffs, and translating analytical outputs into clear, decision-ready insights for leadership. Ideal candidates bring experience in capital planning, financial analysis, and investment decision support.



Job Responsibilities

• Perform analysis on complex data models, requiring customized reporting and data interpretation

• Develop and apply metrics to generate recommendations related to business strategy and investment decisions; present findings to leadership

• Conduct portfolio-level analysis of capital investment plans, including evaluation of cost, risk, and benefit tradeoffs

• Support development and refinement of multi-year investment scenarios under varying financial constraints

• Translate optimization outputs (e.g., Copperleaf) into clear, actionable insights that inform investment decisions

• Connect analytical results to financial envelopes, funding constraints, and executive decision-making needs

• Apply knowledge of capital planning, lifecycle costing, and financial drivers to support portfolio evaluations

• Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, Asset Management, Engineering, Planning) to align inputs and assumptions, and assist in the reporting of financial and operational metrics

• Develop and maintain portfolio dashboards, reports, and analytical tools (Power BI, Excel)

• Perform data validation and QA/QC to ensure accuracy, consistency, and auditability of outputs

• Support executive-level reporting, scenario comparisons, and governance reviews

• Analyze current processes to identify and implement automation and efficiency opportunities.

• Provide decision support to senior management in the creation of financial and operational metrics and reports

• Other ad hoc analyses and reporting
