Job Description

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Requirements:
• Reliable, self-motivated professional with strong time management skills.
• Excellent computer and troubleshooting skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Experience with SQL and database management.
• Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC software (mid to moderate level).
• Experience with machine vision and automation platforms, including:
o Presence Plus, Cognex, Banner, Keyence, and Fanuc Robotics
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards (NFPA 70, Arc Flash Safety).
• Understanding of electrical systems ranging from 480VAC to 24VDC.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Understanding of assembly line operations and maintenance procedures.
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance.


Preferred Requirements:
• Experience creating performance reports, graphs, and trend analysis.
• Strong organizational and project planning skills.
• Ladder logic programming experience.
• Knowledge of mistake-proof planning and PFMEA.
• Aerial Lift Certification (or willingness to obtain).


Job Duties:
• Maintain and support assembly line operations during 3rd shift production.
• Troubleshoot and repair camera systems, automation equipment, and line control devices.
• Partner with Operations to ensure smooth product flow through the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
• Manage and maintain mistake-proofing systems, including:
o PLCs, HMIs, and machine vision systems
o Light curtains, pick-to-light systems, and smart torque tools
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues involving:
o Light curtains, VFDs, and vision systems
o PLCs, HMI software, and C# applications
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on mistake-proofing plans, layouts, and project budgets.
• Develop and modify PLC logic and HMI programs.
• Manage and support multiple SQL databases.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance as required.
• Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, including:
o Mistake-proofing spreadsheets
o AutoCAD drawings
o Instruction kits and technical manuals
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and safety standards.


Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Automation & Controls Technician – 3rd Shift to support manufacturing operations by ensuring continuous performance of assembly lines during overnight production. This role is responsible for troubleshooting automation systems, maintaining mistake-proofing devices, and resolving equipment issues to minimize downtime and support product flow.
The ideal candidate is a reliable self-starter with strong technical expertise in PLCs, machine vision systems, electrical systems, and manufacturing execution systems.
