Job Description
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field (Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical Engineering)
Experience Required:
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in packaging engineering
• Proven track record managing multiple packaging projects with minimal supervision
• Experience with packaging materials and processes (flexible & rigid films, HDPE & foil pouches, corrugated packaging, protective packaging, thermoforming, flow-wrap, form/fill/seal, printing technologies)
• Proficiency in change control processes and packaging specifications/drawings creation
• Cross-functional team collaboration in both technical and non-technical environments
• Application of problem-solving methods (statistical analysis, Design of Experiments, DMAIC)
Experience Preferred:
• Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical packaging
Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of packaging design, development, and testing
• Ability to work on quality/CAPA, regulatory compliance, supplier changes, cost savings, and new product introduction projects
• Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement tools
• Ability to present technical and project overviews with minimal assistance
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and use creative problem-solving skills
• Financial planning and cost justification skills
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and execute packaging engineering projects across domestic and international manufacturing facilities
• Support sustaining engineering activities for current product packaging and processes
• Develop and execute testing protocols for packaging changes
• Approve and qualify new packaging materials and systems
• Create material specifications, engineering drawings, and procedural documents
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, manufacturing plants, and suppliers
• Recommend cost-saving opportunities through material/design changes
• Resolve packaging issues using DMAIC and critical thinking
• Provide financial analysis to justify project approvals
• May travel to manufacturing plants and packaging suppliers as needed - **Only those lawfully authorized to work in the designated country associated with the position will be considered.**
