Job Description
Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related technical discipline



Required Experience/Skills

• Minimum 5 years of experience in medical device product design, development, testing, and verification

• Understanding of fundamental engineering principles and design practices in a regulated environment

• Ability to translate user needs into design inputs, specifications, and system-level designs

• Experience with prototyping, problem-solving, root cause analysis, bench testing, and verification/validation activities

• Knowledge of design controls, risk management, quality systems, and applicable regulatory requirements

• Ability to create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files (DHF)

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound engineering decisions

• Strong communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills



Preferred Experience/Skills

• Vascular device engineering experience strongly preferred

• Experience designing medical device assemblies using Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles

• Experience developing test fixtures, test methods, DOE, and measurement system analysis

• Experience with CAD/CAE tools, engineering drawings, material specifications, and Bills of Materials

• Understanding of clinical procedures, Voice of Customer activities, and incorporating clinical feedback into product design

• Knowledge of manufacturing metrics such as COGS and yield



Job Duties

• Research, design, develop, modify, and verify medical device components and systems

• Translate customer/user needs into functional requirements, design inputs, and specifications

• Develop prototypes and engineering solutions to demonstrate proof of concept

• Develop and execute bench testing, verification, validation, and process validation activities

• Perform problem solving, root cause analysis, and evaluation of technical solutions

• Create and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, test plans, reports, and Design History Files

• Apply design controls, risk management, quality procedures, and regulatory requirements

• Use CAD/CAE tools to develop designs and detailed engineering drawings

• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management teams

• Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, quality, reliability, safety, and production yield

• Support Voice of Customer activities and incorporate clinical/customer feedback into product development

• Support multifunctional teams through product design, development, verification, validation, and launch
