Job Description
Required Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
• Five (5) or more years of professional electrical engineering experience.
• Experience with electrical design and development of complex electrical subsystems.
• Experience translating product and system needs into electrical requirements, interfaces, and designs.
• Experience with PCBA design and development, including schematic design, component selection, and board design.
• Experience with PCB layout reviews, board bring-up, characterization, testing, and debugging.
• Experience integrating electrical hardware with embedded software, mechanical components, and broader system-level requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and complex problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
• Advanced PCBA design experience, including schematic design, component selection, layout review, board bring-up, and debugging.
• Proficiency with Altium.
• Experience designing rigid, flex, or rigid-flex PCBs.
• Experience with EMC/EMI design, testing, troubleshooting, and design for manufacturability.
• Experience developing complex electromechanical, robotic, medical, or other technically sophisticated products.
• Experience leading technical tradeoff decisions involving performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and risk.
• Experience developing verification and EMC test strategies and supporting testing at external laboratories or other facilities.
• Experience guiding products from requirements and concept development through verification, design transfer, and commercialization.
• Medical device experience, including design controls, risk management, IEC 60601, or Design History File documentation.
• Experience collaborating with Software, Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams.
Staff Electrical Engineer Overview:
• The Staff Electrical Engineer will lead the development of electrical subsystems for a next-generation surgical robotic platform.
• This is a hands-on role focused on PCBA design, electrical system integration, testing, characterization, and troubleshooting.
• The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional engineering, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to develop reliable electrical solutions from concept through commercialization.
Job Duties:
• Lead the electrical design and development of a major robotic subsystem.
• Translate product and system requirements into electrical requirements, interfaces, and designs.
• Develop complex PCBAs, including schematic design, component selection, and rigid, flex, and rigid-flex board designs.
• Perform PCB layout reviews, board bring-up, characterization, testing, and debugging using Altium.
• Integrate electrical hardware with embedded software, mechanical components, and the broader robotic system.
• Lead technical tradeoff decisions related to performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and risk.
• Develop verification and EMC test strategies and support testing at external laboratories or other facilities.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical and multidisciplinary system issues.
• Support design documentation, risk management, design transfer, and product commercialization.
