How many years of related experience are you looking for in your ideal candidate?: Minimum 15 years of total experience. Minimum eight years in leading and managing design and construction activities for hospital and medical office builings. Minimum 3 years of experience in a management role
Specific Systems Knowledge Required:
Experience in negotiating and writing contracts for design consultants and contractors required.
Knowledgeable in principles of architecture, engineering, and construction.
Thorough knowledge of preparing contract documents, fixed price, guaranteed maximum price, legal implications of design/build in applicable state required.
Significant working knowledge of Federal, State and local laws and regulations related to real estate and land development and health facility projects; local entitlement and permitting processes, to include compliance with DEQA; Specific knowledge of OSHPD (in California) and similar regulatory agencies practices/policies/procedures in other states.
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Any Required Certifications?: Preferred - General Contractor’s license
Top Three things Worker will be doing:
Responsible for daily management and consulting activities with sign-off authority in support of MHS Leadership. After approval of budget, creates project with director of MHS Leadership, according to the facility''s approved needs, priorities and budgets.
Performs oversight and management of project teams providing direction and/or approval on daily operational issues (e.g.staffing, interviewing, making decisions on contractors, lawsuits, vendor performance, liaison with core group services,etc.).
Provides expert technical guidance and information for all aspects of project team activities (planning, scheduling, implementation). Serves as a sounding board for project managers)
Top Three Skillsets needed:
Regularly and effectively communicates the status of projects to Leadership and stakeholders.
Ensures alignment with Maui Health System requirements for contracting, working with the Contracts Department and Legal Department if necessary.

Specific Details around travel including locations, frequency, different locations throughout the same day, etc. Travel may include travel to our Kula Hospital facility which is located on Maui, approximately a 40-minute drive from Maui Memorial Medical Center. Travel may also include traveling to our Lanai Community Hospital facility located on the island of Lanai which can be reached by either a 45 minute ferry ride or 20 minute plane ride.
Expected Shift: M-F 8am – 5pm
