Job Description
Required Skills, Experience, & Abilities:

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrable experience as a Full-Stack Developer transitioning into a customer-facing, Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)-style delivery role.

• Expert-level proficiency in Java (Core Java, Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, microservices, REST/gRPC APIs) and/or strong production experience in Python 3.x (FastAPI, Flask/Django, Pandas, NumPy, Pydantic).

• Strong object-oriented design skills and the ability to work across Java and Python codebases or ramp up quickly on the second language.

• Hands-on experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Tekton (Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines) and Jenkins.

• Strong database expertise across Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, and MongoDB, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.

• Demonstrated DevOps expertise, including Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and cloud deployment on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Experience building scalable, resilient applications, REST APIs, and integrations with third-party systems and messaging or streaming technologies such as Kafka.

• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and basic frontend frameworks such as React or Angular for full-stack delivery.

• Knowledge of secure coding practices, auditability, enterprise security controls, and regulatory compliance for financial data.

• Excellent communication, technical writing, stakeholder management, and business engagement skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to engineering and non-technical audiences.

• High agency, ownership mindset, and ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced, customer-facing environments.

Desired Skills, Experience, & Abilities:

• Domain knowledge of Fintech, Capital Markets, or Spread Products, particularly Financing and Securitization, including asset-backed securities (ABS) and mortgage-backed securities (MBS).

• Prior experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Consultant embedded within financial institutions.

• Experience using Python for quantitative analytics, pricing models, risk calculations, data science, or machine learning-driven risk tooling alongside a Java-based production stack.

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or Splunk.

• Experience with event-driven architectures and scripting or automation that combines Java and Python within the same delivery pipeline.

• Experience with Jupyter, scikit-learn, or other Python-based quantitative and analytics tools.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) with deep Java and Python expertise to architect, build, and deploy production-grade solutions for financial technology use cases in the Spread Products space. This hybrid engineering and customer-facing role involves close collaboration with trading, risk, and operations teams to deliver solutions across the full technical lifecycle, from discovery and requirements gathering through development, deployment, and production hardening.

The ideal candidate combines full-stack or backend architecture expertise with strong business acumen, translating complex and ambiguous requirements into working software under tight timelines. The role requires selecting the appropriate technology, balancing speed, scope, and quality, and serving as a trusted technical partner to business and engineering stakeholders.

Success requires delivering secure, auditable, scalable, and resilient applications that integrate into enterprise financial workflows, maintaining production reliability, and establishing continuous feedback loops that connect engineering delivery to business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for client teams, gathering requirements, defining scope, establishing technical specifications, and sequencing delivery plans.

• Lead discovery and scoping engagements, translating ambiguous business needs into practical technical solutions and clear implementation plans.

• Rapidly prototype, develop, and deploy production-ready applications using Java and/or Python to address trading, risk, analytics, pricing, and operational challenges.

• Architect and build scalable, resilient full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, microservices, Python, FastAPI, or Flask, as appropriate for enterprise financial workflows.

• Use Python for rapid prototyping, data analysis, pricing and risk calculations, and automation where appropriate.

• Apply strong data modeling, schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning across Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, and MongoDB.

• Integrate applications with REST/gRPC APIs, third-party systems, and messaging or streaming platforms such as Kafka.

• Ensure secure coding, auditability, enterprise security controls, and regulatory compliance across Java and Python applications handling financial data.

• Design, build, and maintain reliable, auditable CI/CD pipelines using Tekton (Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines) and Jenkins for Java and Python services.

• Deploy and manage containerized applications on OpenShift and Kubernetes, using Docker and infrastructure-as-code practices.

• Apply expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to deploy infrastructure reliably and repeatably.

• Balance delivery speed, scope, and quality while meeting aggressive timelines without compromising system integrity.

• Own Discovery & Scoping engagements — translating ambiguous business asks into clear technical specifications and delivery plans.

• Demonstrate business acumen by understanding ROI, AI impact, enterprise workflows, and stakeholder priorities, while maintaining continuous product feedback loops.

• Produce clear technical documentation and communicate architecture decisions effectively to engineering teams, business stakeholders, and other audiences.

  • **Only those lawfully authorized to work in the designated country associated with the position will be considered.**

  • **Please note that all Position start dates and duration are estimates and may be reduced or lengthened based upon a client’s business needs and requirements.**
