Job Description

Preferred Certification:
Current Databricks certification, such as:
• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate
• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional

Minimum Requirements:
(Candidates must meet all minimum requirements to be considered)
• 8+ years of experience supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of information technology solutions.
• 8+ years of experience with Databricks, including building, managing, and optimizing ETL/ELT data pipelines using Apache Spark.
• 8+ years of experience in data warehousing concepts and dimensional data modeling, including star and snowflake schema design.
• 8+ years of experience writing complex SQL and developing solutions using Python or Scala for large-scale data processing.
• 8+ years of experience designing and developing dashboards, visualizations, and applications within the Databricks ecosystem, including Databricks SQL Dashboards and Databricks Apps.
• 8+ years of experience implementing data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data security frameworks.
• 8+ years of experience implementing Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines (formerly Delta Live Tables/DLT) in production environments.
• 8+ years of experience working with Delta Lake, Lakehouse architectures, Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold), and scheduling data processing jobs using Lakeflow Jobs, Databricks Workflows, Airflow, or similar orchestration platforms.
• 8+ years of experience gathering business requirements, documenting system specifications, and translating business needs into technical solutions.
• 8+ years of experience communicating effectively with technical teams, business users, leadership, and executive stakeholders through both written and verbal presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on highly complex technical assignments while exercising sound judgment and decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 1+ year of experience working within public sector, government, or state agency environments.
• 1+ year of experience utilizing CI/CD practices and DevOps methodologies for data engineering solutions, including Git-based development workflows.
• 1+ year of experience implementing automated testing, deployment, and release management processes for data platforms.

• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data modernization initiatives.
• Experience working in hybrid cloud and data lakehouse environments.
• Knowledge of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements applicable to government or highly regulated industries.
Summary:
• We are seeking a highly skilled Databricks Engineer with 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions.
• This senior-level role requires an individual who relies on extensive experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish objectives independently while performing a variety of complex technical assignments.
• The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of data engineering expertise and demonstrate creativity, innovation, and latitude in solving business and technical challenges.
• The Databricks Engineer will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to analyze requirements, evaluate solution alternatives, perform cost-benefit analyses, and design scalable data architectures.
• This role is responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines, implementing modern lakehouse architectures, developing analytical solutions, and ensuring data quality, governance, security, and operational excellence across enterprise data platforms.

Responsibilities:
• Analyze business objectives, operational challenges, and user requirements to identify and recommend technology solutions.
• Conduct studies, technical evaluations, and cost-benefit analyses of alternative approaches to support informed decision-making.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand current processes, identify opportunities for automation, and improve existing data systems.
• Document detailed business and technical requirements, data flows, system specifications, and solution designs.
• Evaluate system capabilities, performance constraints, and platform limitations to determine feasibility of requested enhancements.
• Design, develop, and optimize scalable data solutions utilizing Databricks and Apache Spark technologies.
• Build, maintain, and support ETL/ELT data pipelines for enterprise data integration and analytics.
• Design and implement Lakehouse architectures leveraging Delta Lake and Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
• Develop and maintain Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines (formerly Delta Live Tables) for production-grade data processing.
• Create, schedule, monitor, and optimize data workflows using Lakeflow Jobs (formerly Databricks Workflows) and related orchestration tools.
• Develop robust dimensional data models, including star and snowflake schemas, to support reporting and analytics.
• Implement data governance, security, quality assurance, validation, and compliance frameworks across data environments.
• Build interactive dashboards, Databricks SQL visualizations, Databricks Apps, and analytical solutions that provide actionable business insights.
• Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize workloads for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Support CI/CD processes and DevOps best practices for data engineering deployments.
• Present technical concepts, project updates, and analytical findings to both business and technical audiences.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on best practices related to Databricks, data engineering, and cloud-based analytics platforms.
