Data Engineering (Foundational & Practical):

- Intermediate SQL skills (joins, aggregations; window functions helpful but not required)

- Experience working with flat-file data sources (Excel, CSV) and recurring extracts

- Comfort translating business logic into structured, repeatable transformations

- Ability to work with evolving definitions and imperfect inputs

- Clear documentation and attention to detail



Power BI Prototyping & Wireframing:

- Hands-on experience building Power BI datasets and reports

- Ability to create low-polish, high-signal report prototypes and wireframes

- Comfort iterating quickly based on PO feedback

- Awareness of how layout, defaults, and framing affect interpretation



Semantic Discipline & Collaboration:

- Comfortable with authoritative definitions and centralized logic

- Willingness to ask clarifying questions around grain, scope, and intent

- Avoidance of duplicated or ad-hoc metric logic



Operational Flexibility:

- Willingness to support and improve existing reporting assets as needed

- Comfort working across both new development and legacy analytics

- Pragmatic approach to incremental improvement





Desired Skills, Experience, & Abilities:

- Exposure to HR, Talent Acquisition, or workforce analytics, including Workday Recruiting

- Experience supporting executive- or client-facing analytics

- Familiarity with semantic modeling concepts or governed analytics environments



Role:

This contractor role supports the foundational stand-up of a Talent Acquisition (TA) Analytics Ecosystem. The resource will focus on preparing analytical datasets from spreadsheet-based extracts, prototyping Power BI reports, and supporting existing TA reporting, working under the direction of the TA Analytics Product Owner (PO). The role is execution-focused.



Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain analytical datasets using spreadsheet based data extracts (Excel, CSV)

• Apply intermediate SQL and transformation logic to create clean, repeatable datasets

• Support the development of a governed semantic layer under PO direction

• Prototype Power BI datasets and report wireframes for iterative design and stakeholder review

• Assist with enhancements, cleanup, and validation of existing TA analytics and reports

• Document assumptions, filters, and calculation logic to support sustainability and handoff

• Collaborate closely with the PO to translate design intent into executable analytics
