Position Summary



The Lead Content Strategist, Marketing will serve as a strategic content consultant within a consumer-facing marketing organization. This role will develop and guide content strategy across web, email, and SMS, using customer insights, analytics, engagement data, and search behavior to identify opportunities and recommend content improvements.

The ideal candidate is not primarily a writer or content producer. Instead, this person will establish content strategy, architecture, prioritization, personalization, and governance while partnering with writers, designers, UX, Marketing, Analytics, and Marketing Insights teams to execute the strategy.

The role will help ensure content is aligned with customer journeys, marketing objectives, retention initiatives, and digital experience best practices.



Position Responsibilities



• Develop and execute enterprise content strategies aligned with business objectives and consumer needs.

• Develop content strategies across web, email, and SMS channels.

• Analyze web analytics, customer behavior, email/SMS engagement, call-center data, and other available insights to identify content opportunities.

• Translate data and customer insights into actionable recommendations for new, revised, or personalized content.

• Develop content architectures, frameworks, journey maps, content plans, and digital experience strategies.

• Partner with Marketing, UX Designers, Analytics, Marketing Insights, writers, designers, SEO, and other cross-functional teams.

• Provide strategic direction to writers and creative partners responsible for content execution.

• Develop recommendations for dynamic and personalized content based on audience attributes and behavior.

• Apply SEO, GEO, search behavior, and web best practices to content strategy.

• Conduct content audits and identify opportunities to improve content effectiveness and customer journeys.

• Support content governance, prioritization, accessibility, brand standards, and consistency.

• Help establish stronger upstream alignment so content requirements are identified early in the planning process.

• Support customer/member retention and engagement initiatives through data-driven content strategy.

• Evaluate content performance and recommend ongoing optimization.

• Present strategic recommendations and influence stakeholders across Marketing and other enterprise functions.

• Build alignment among diverse stakeholders while balancing competing priorities.

• Serve as a subject-matter expert and strategic consultant rather than functioning primarily as a content writer.

• Work closely with UX and digital experience teams to ensure content supports effective customer experiences.

• Contribute to the development of scalable content practices across the organization.
