• Requires strong proofreading and copy-editing skills, fluency in both Spanish and English, understanding of transcreation principles, and familiarity with direct response or marketing fundraising content.
• Requires comfort working in Microsoft Word and Excel and managing tracked changes and approvals.
• Requires a high degree of concentration and attention to written detail, particularly when reviewing Spanish-language and bilingual content, often under deadline pressure.
Bilingual Proofreader with the primary responsibility of this contract position is to edit, proof, and review copy for Direct Response materials, including English, Spanish-language, and bilingual executions. This role supports fundraising initiatives by ensuring accuracy, clarity, cultural relevance, and adherence to brand and voice standards across print and digital channels. The role requires fluency in both Spanish and English and strong proficiency in bilingual copy editing and transcreation review.
Job Responsibilities
• Uses thorough knowledge of English and Spanish grammar, punctuation, and spelling to edit and proof donor communications tailored to specific programs and audiences.
• Reviews and edits Spanish-language and bilingual copy to ensure cultural relevance, donor-centric tone, accuracy, and alignment with campaign strategy.
• Supports transcreation of approved English copy into Spanish, applying best practices rather than direct translation.
• Partners with Direct Response, Marketing, and Patient teams to ensure accuracy and brand compliance.
• Tracks, incorporates, and verifies changes through multiple approval stages, ensuring no new errors are introduced.
• Ensures accuracy of names, dates, legal language, phone numbers, URLs, and other required details across all assigned materials.
• Maintains attention to detail and composure while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
• Adheres to brand voice, AP style, and internal style guidelines across English, Spanish, and bilingual content.
• Supports Direct Response and Multicultural Marketing initiatives. Supports business continuity tasks as assigned, in accordance with organizational guidelines.
