Job Description
Required Education:
• Associate degree, or higher
Required Skills and Experience:
• Experience in creating and maintaining databases
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, SharePoint and Lists)
• Experience with data analysis and data reporting
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and handle multiple, shifting priorities
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Previous experience working for the Department of Health
• Familiarity with the State Health Commerce System (HCS) or similar web-based portal is preferred
The Computer Support Specialist provides technical and data management support to Client, ensuring efficient operation of nursing home oversight systems. This role is responsible for maintaining and validating multiple databases, generating and distributing key reports, and supporting regulatory processes such as recertifications, complaints, and enforcement case tracking.
The specialist acts as a liaison between field staff, administrative teams, and IT, helping resolve technical issues, monitor support requests, and improve system workflows. They also assist leadership with data analysis, reporting, and project coordination to enhance bureau operations.
This position requires strong database management skills, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel and SharePoint), attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently while supporting ongoing process improvements and user training.
Job Duties:
• Maintain MARO OALTC nursing home staff breakdown database for NYC, Central Islip and New Rochelle offices,
• Run and distribute weekly iQIES (federal database) reports,
• Process AOR/DON/Medical Director changes for the NYS Provider Directory,
• Maintain database of general nursing home facility complaint and recertification files
• Create survey shells for recertification and complaints,
• Create enforcement cases in iQIES as necessary,
• Perform routine data systems maintenance as well as data validation and data verification for complaint backlog,
• Serves as liaison between field and administrative surveillance staff and IT staff as needed,
• Monitors IT ticket submissions on behalf of the Regional Area Office Director
• Assist the Area Office Director with data analysis, data reporting, and project management functions in support of Bureau operations,
• Provide various aspects of general computer support,
• Provide training and support for Client staff, applicants, and consultant representatives as needed,
• Assist with process improvement efforts via the development of new/improved technology tools and workflow automation designed to reduce manual effort and increase efficiency,
• Collaborate and coordinate with other Client Bureaus, Centers/Divisions, and Offices, and other State Agencies, as applicable,
• Other duties as assigned
