Job Description

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
• Experience in data analysis, data quality review, or similar work
• Familiarity with GIS tools, mapping software, or transportation-related systems preferred
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized records
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
Data Analyst Job Responsibilities:
• Analyze and review incoming traffic count data for completeness and accuracy
• Assess the validity of results based on historical and nearby traffic data patterns
• Use the Traffic Monitoring Bureau's Drake well software in the review of traffic count data
• Use software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Maps/Earth, GIS, WinZip
• Make independent decisions about the quality of data received from traffic count contractors
• Work in a team environment where effective communication is critical
• Use Email and Windows Explorer for continual file management
• Keep meticulous records, both written and computer-based
• Prepare letters/tables for communications with traffic count contractors regarding Acceptance/Rejection of traffic data
• Deal with challenges presented by traffic count contractors over rejected traffic data, leading to reduced payment
• Perform database management, data entry, and other activities as trained and assigned
The position(s) are data analysis in nature and relatively long-term, as they require significant training and on-the-job learning before proficiency is achieved. The learning/training period can last 3 weeks or more, with the ability to make appropriate judgment calls and work semi-independently taking even longer.
