• Experience executing audit, risk, control, or compliance activities.

• Experience evaluating the effectiveness of risk management, internal control, and governance processes.

• Experience identifying control deficiencies and assessing the exposure and significance of identified issues.

• Experience developing cost-effective recommendations to address control deficiencies.

• Experience communicating audit or control results to various levels of management.

• Experience coordinating with internal and external control groups.



Required Skills

• Solid knowledge and proper application of control and audit theory.

• Risk assessment and internal control evaluation.

• Audit planning and execution.

• Control deficiency identification and assessment.

• Ability to develop practical recommendations based on audit findings.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work with various levels of management and control partners.



Preferred Skills

• SOX compliance experience.

• MAR compliance experience.

• FDICIA compliance experience.

• Experience monitoring and validating Management Action Plans.

• Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience.



Job Duties

• Plan and execute less complex portions of the Risk & Control Services plan.

• Perform audit activities and SOX/MAR/FDICIA compliance activities.

• Execute a structured approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

• Gather information and provide input into risk assessments in conformance with department standards.

• Identify control deficiencies and assess their exposure and significance.

• Develop cost-effective recommendations for identified control deficiencies.

• Present audit and control results to various levels of client management.

• Monitor and validate the status of Management Action Plans.

• Recommend closure of Management Action Plans once corrective actions are complete and the identified deficiency has been addressed.

• Coordinate with appropriate internal and external control groups when planning and executing assigned work.



Typical Day

The consultant will spend much of the day performing audit and control-testing activities, reviewing processes and supporting documentation, assessing whether controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively, documenting findings, and identifying potential control gaps. They will also communicate with business and control partners to gather information, discuss findings, track remediation activities, and determine whether previously identified deficiencies have been adequately addressed.
